Gurudeva read chapter 7 of Madhya lila of Sri Sri Chaitanya Bhagavata named "Meeting of Pundarika with Gadadhara" pages 236-243 and then proceeded:
This is the story told by Vrindavan das Thakur.
Now see, the relationship between disciple and a spiritual master how it can be realized? Not by advertisement. Now everywhere advertisement is going on. Everywhere. But it is not the real way. Real way is, Gadadhar he saw. He could realise. He was also a devotee. He was also a devotee. He might have accepted some Guru, but now he says:
"I have committed offence at his feet. I must be relieved of this offence. How? If he accepts me as a disciple whatever offence I have committed that will be excused."
So he asked like that. This is Gadadhar pandit.
Gadadhar. Once, I told you that when Mahaprabhu was weeping, at early stage, when he wanted to reveal Himself. He was a great scholar. Returning from Gaya after accepting initiation from Iswara Puri, he become a great devotee and he revealed that "I am a devotee of Lord Krishna" and told hundreds of students who followed Him:
"You go back to Navadvip, I am not coming towards you. When all of them were sleeping in 12 o'clock night he ran away without informing anybody. But on the way somebody had warned him not to go to Vrindavan now, but
"Later days you can go. You return now."
Then he returned. Though he returned he never told any student about the grammar which he used to speak. Thousands of students gathered because they wanted to complete their studies. Mahaprabhu said:
"No. I am not going to teach you about this grammar, or material science, or anything of language, because all of you have become devotees now. Now all of you should repeat Namam."
But they cannot perform Namam. They came for learning something from him. But now Mahaprabhu rejected.
And in that respect, when Mahaprabhu was repeating Namam loudly, and while repeating Namam, all the people thought Nimai pandit has gone mad. And they advised the mother to tie him with a rope, or give him that (ayurvedic medicine oil). It must be applied on his head. Then Saci devi invited Srivas Pandit.
"Srivas. See my boy. Why is he suffering? Why? My husband has gone. My eldest son has gone. Only this boy. I am with this boy(crying). So all of you must bless me, so that boy may stay in my house."
Then he said:
"Yes. This is no madness. It is Krishna Prema. Mother why do you weep? Why do you weep?"
Mahaprabhu said:
"If you would have said otherwise today, I would have accepted Ganga, I would have done it, a suicide. But you properly diagnosed that it is not madness. It is only devotion."
This is how.
Then one day he was calling:
"Gadadhar! Gadadhar! Gadadhar!¸"
And Gadadhar came:
"Gadadhar, do you know where is Krishna?"
Everybody he asked:
"Where is my Krishna? Where is Krishna? I saw that Krishna with a flute. Now I am unable to see him. Where is he? Where is he? Nobody can give me the relief."
Now he asked Gadadhar:
"From childhood you were a devotee. Now you must know where Krishna is. Can you tell me where Krishna is?"
Then Gadadhar said:
"Why are you weeping so much? Krishna is in you. Where is he? In you."
"He is in me?"
Then he wanted to open his heart. Then Gadadhar caught hold of his two hands.
"Wait. Wait. Wait."
And the mother said:
"Gadadhar Pandit, this boy, he is very intelligent. He has saved my boy today. My Nimai is saved today. Otherwise Nimai would have opened his heart. Out of ecstasy he would have opened it. He would have died."
Mother was so much affectionate towards Gadadhar.
Gadadhar was always with Mahaprabhu. He came from Navadvip to Puri with Gadadhar, Nityananda and five others who came. After his sannyasa he came to Puri first.
Gadadhar was always with him in Navadvip. When Advaita Acarya fell flat at the feet of Gauranga Mahaprabhu and was offering puja giving sandal paste and flowers and fruits, and he is worshipping, then Gadadhar said:
"No. No. This is not a way of worship. Why worshipping a boy? He is your boy. Boy.(crying) You are an old man. Old men should bless him. Contrary to that you worship? It is not auspicious."
Then Advaita Acarya said:
"Yes. Yes. You will know. You will know. He is not a boy. He is my Lord(crying). You will know. You will know. Afterwards you will know."
So such was the affection. Affection towards Gauranga. Yes. Yes.
When he was in Puri serving the Gopinath. Tota Gopinath. Now Gopinath is there. Gopinath is sitting. Like this, sitting. Why? Because at an old age he could not stand and decorate, perform tilaka, and all this he cannot give. So Gopinath said:
"Why do you take the trouble? I will sit. Don't stand. By sitting you do this."
Now Gopinath is sitting. With so much devotion he used to worship him.
Mahaprabhu wanted to go to Vrindavana. Visiting Navadvip and his mother he was going to Vrindavan. Many people wanted to follow him.
To all of them Mahaprabhu said:
"No. no. No. You don't come with me."
And Gadadhar Pandit also said:
"I will come. I will go with you."
Then Mahaprabhu said:
"No Gadadhara. You please stay at Puri. You have promised when you have taken this asrama as a sannyasi. You are a sannyasi. Because, you have promised that: "I will perform Gopinath seva throughout my life." And you are a sannyasi. If you give up the service of Gopinath who will do it? Who will do it?"
Then he said:
"Let it go to (inaudible). I am not going to do it. If you don't take me I will definitely go."
At Cuttack.
He never returned, then Mahaprabhu asked him folding his two hands:
"Gadadhar(crying). You want to be happy by coming with me and without serving Gopinath. And I will be happy if you do service of Gopinath."
Than what will he do? He cannot reply. Weeping, weeping, weeping. Mahaprabhu left him and went away. Went away.
Such is the confidential service to Lord Gauranga. When he was serving Gopinath, Nityananda Prabhu brought fine rice from Navadvip. Fine rice. Good smell rice. He asked:
"Gadadhar Pandit. You must prepare rice and offer to Gopinath."
Then he said:
"You have carried, such long distance you have carried the rice. And if you take prasad I will cook."
"No. No. I cannot come. Mahaprabhu may come. Yes. When Mahaprabhu comes I will come."
Then he made the rice. No vegetables. What he will do? No vegetables. Some leaf vegetables are there grown automatically. Banya(?) Sak. Banya Sak. (inaudible) one vegetable. So he is not happy with one vegetable. Now he saw this tamarind tree. The leaves are very soft, tender leaves are there. He brought some leaves and he crushed them with stone and had a little sea water and performed chutney. This is chutney. And rice.
Then Mahaprabhu came. And Tulasi leaf was given on it. Then Mahaprabhu said:
"So much. It will be too much for me. You remove some."
"No. No. No. No. I cannot take."
"No. I request you take it."
"It is a small quantity."
Then Mahaprabhu sat. And Mahaprabhu was eating. Mahaprabhu said:
"Oh. This is Mahaprasad. Nityananda prabhu carried this rice from Navadvip. And you have cooked this rice and offered to Gopinath. Gopinath prasad. I am so fortunate to receive today Gopinath's prasad. It is a blessing of Nityananda and blessing of Gadadhara and blessing of Gopinath. I am fortunate. I have never accepted such prasadam. Never tasted. Now I could. Very tasteful. What vegatable? Only rice it is. Because rice is good no vegetables. No vegetables. No salt, water salt was done."
That is because he never used to beg anybody. Whatever comes he used. Who will give? If anybody gives, or if not, whatever available.
And he was a very, Bhagavata reader. Very nicely he used to read Bhagavata. Mahaprabhu used to sit and hear his Bhagavat. Bhagavat. Only reading. Very nice. Because he is a great scholar. Mahaprabhu is a scholar. Now, "to whom will I explain?" He only reads. Melodiously he is reading. Mahaprabhu was excited. And he used to come and sit in time when he reached there.
So Gadadhara. Gaura Gadadhara. He is life of Gauranga. He is a confidential devotee of Gauranga Mahaprabhu.
Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna.
Rain? No Rain. There was no rain. Rain stopped.
When a good action, many obstacles will be there. Now today evening where have you arranged?
Gopikantha prabhu: In Zagreb, in park.
Gurudeva: In park if it rains?
Gopikantha prabhu: In devotee's house.
Gurudeva: Like this? Is it not little bigger than this?
Gopikantha prabhu: (in Croatian) Its big enough. Guaranteed.
Gurudeva: At what time? 5 o'clock. Rains. No rain?
Very fine murti of Gaura Gadadhara. Wherefrom you have got them? Navadvip? Gaura Gadadhara. Wherefrom?
Answer: Ekacakra.
Gurudeva: It is wood?
Gurudeva: Ekacakra? Oh, Nityananda prabhu's place. Birthplace.
In those days, previously, they used to prepare fine, but now the artists die. Those artists die. The younger artists, they cannot get, we cannot get divinity in there. This is, you see, some respect, divinity comes. And actually you see the (inaudible) it is attached. Like that. But so many artists now they prepare. It is wooden. Oh, we never find such artists nowadays. Nobody is there to prepare very nice.
Haribol. Haribol.
Oh Lord, I am simply praying for your mercy.
What is the time now? (inaudible)
Chaitanya Bhagavata is very nice because, if you read it, so lucid and devotionally... Who wrote this book?
Vrindavana dasa mukhe
Vrindavan das.
Kaviraja Krishna das.
Kaviraja Goswami mentioned about Vrindavan das as Vyasa. And Vrindavan das Thakur, he mentioned him, Kaviraja Goswami as a Vyasa. They exchanged. They exchanged. And lucidly they have explained.
Because actually more about Nityananda. He was a devotee of Nityananda. Always while writing the life of Chaitanya, every chapter he links to Nityananda. And out of ecstasy he may be writing more about Nityananda. The book is very, very great now. Very heavy. He would explain only, not more about sannyasa ashrama. To further that, the devotees requested Krishnadasa Kaviraja Goswami to fulfill their desire and complete all the pastimes. It will be completed with Sannyasa lila. In detail he explained.
He said:
"I have become old. I am more than 80. I cannot write. I cannot see, I cannot hear, I cannot write. Then all of them went to Madan Gopal's temple and prayed to Madan Gopal to bless him to complete the life of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Suddenly the flower garland fell down from Madan Gopal's neck. Then they said:
"Yes. Madan Gopal has blessed you."
They brought the garland and put it down to Kaviraja Goswami and requested him to complete.
So he said:
"Yes."
ei grantha lekhaya more 'madana-mohana'
"This Chaitanya Caritamrita I am not writing. Madan Mohan is writing. Through his inspiration, dictation, I write."
amara likhana yena sukera pathana
Like a parrot. Whatever you utter parrot will say. You say "Rama", parrot will say "Rama". You say "stupid", parrot will say "stupid".
"Like that whatever he dictated to me I wrote. I am not writing. I am very insignificant creature. I am a worm of the dung. Nobody should call me Krishnadasa Kaviraja. If he repeats my name all the sin will come around. And if hears my name he will lose all his good activities and will be inviting sin."
(inaudible)
"It is all Nityananda's blessings., I do this, I write."
Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna.
So, you'll do puja. Good. Very good.
